The Company

At Martelle Dance Academy we are focused on teaching proper technique and classroom etiquette. We are locally owned and offer professional level dance training. Dancers of all ages and abilities are welcomed. So whether you're looking to dance recreationally or want to move forward in the dance world professionally we have a place for you!

Our owner, Kate Martelle grew up in and still resides in Wellsville NY. She has a bachelors degree from the SUNY Fredonia Dept of Theatre and Dance. She was fortunate to do a lengthy residency with the Paul Taylor Dance Company in college and is still part of the Taylor family as a current Presenter for the Taylor Company. In February 2019 Kate brought Paul Taylor's Taylor 2 Company to Wellsville for a 4 day residency filled with master classes and performances. She is thrilled to be able to bring world class dance to her hometown area and is excited to be able to do so through the Martelle Dance Academy.



We have an amazing faculty of guest and adjunct teachers at MDA and offer professional level dance training through our pre-professional track. As a pre-professional student you will have focused classes on technique as well as audition prep classes to prepare you for the college and professional audition process.

We also offer a teaching assistant training program for ages 10 and up. We will train our assistants through this program on what it is to assist in a dance class as well as prepare them to become a lead teacher in the future.
