Inspiring Confidence Through Dance

At Martelle Dance Academy, we believe every dancer deserves a place to learn, grow, and shine. Through professional instruction, meaningful connections, and a love for the art of dance, we're committed to helping students of all ages build confidence, develop their skills, and discover the joy of movement.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide professional dance education rooted in strong technique, respect, and encouragement. We are committed to helping every dancer develop confidence, discipline, artistry, and a passion for lifelong learning, creating an experience that positively impacts each student both in and beyond the studio.

Passionate About Dance. Dedicated to Every Dancer.

For nearly three decades, Kate Martelle has dedicated her life to dance as a performer, educator, choreographer, and mentor. Her passion for helping dancers grow has shaped Martelle Dance Academy into a studio where professional-level training meets a supportive, family-focused atmosphere.

Kate earned her Bachelor's degree in Theatre & Dance from SUNY Fredonia and completed additional studies through NYU/Tisch School of the Arts and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. She has trained with the internationally renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company and continues to study with some of today's leading choreographers and educators, ensuring her students benefit from current techniques and industry-leading instruction.

As an award-winning choreographer and lifelong learner, Kate holds numerous professional certifications in dance education, choreography, acrobatics, adaptive dance, wellness, and injury prevention. She believes that every dancer deserves safe, high-quality instruction tailored to their individual goals and abilities.

Whether she's teaching a toddler's first dance class, coaching the competition team, or mentoring future dance educators, Kate's greatest joy is helping students discover confidence through movement.

Our Story

Martelle Dance Academy was founded on the belief that every dancer deserves high-quality instruction, meaningful encouragement, and a place where they can truly belong. What began as one dancer's passion for teaching has grown into a vibrant studio community where students of all ages and experience levels are empowered to learn, grow, and discover the joy of dance.

With nearly three decades of experience as a performer, choreographer, and educator, Kate envisioned a studio that combined professional-level training with a welcoming, family-centered atmosphere. Every class is built on a foundation of strong technique, respect, creativity, and personal growth, helping dancers gain confidence not only on stage, but in everyday life.

As the only locally owned and operated dance studio in Wellsville, Martelle Dance Academy is proud to offer opportunities for everyone, from toddlers taking their first dance class to adults rediscovering the joy of movement, recreational dancers exploring a new passion, and students pursuing competitive performance.

Over the years, the studio has continued to grow, but its purpose has remained the same: to create a positive, inspiring environment where every dancer feels seen, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential. Whether stepping into the studio for the first time or preparing for the next chapter of their dance journey, every student is welcomed like family and encouraged to shine in their own unique way.

Beyond the Studio

At Martelle Dance Academy, our impact extends far beyond the classroom. We believe dance is a powerful way to connect people, build confidence, and strengthen our community through meaningful experiences.

Arc Angels

One of the programs closest to Kate's heart began in 2017, when Allegany Arc approached her about teaching dance classes for individuals with special needs. Inspired by her experiences caring for her nephew Ryan and her belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to dance, Kate eagerly said yes, and never looked back.

That partnership grew into Arc Angels, a program that continues to provide meaningful dance opportunities for individuals with diverse abilities.

Dancers Against Cancer

Giving back is woven into the fabric of Martelle Dance Academy. Through our annual Dancers Against Cancer Showcase, dancers use their passion for the arts to support families facing one of life's greatest challenges.

This event was inspired by Kate's father, who courageously battled a rare form of cancer for 18 years. During his journey, the exceptional care provided by Wilmot Cancer Center and, later, the compassion shown by the Hart Comfort House left a lasting impact on Kate and her family.
